FC Wichita men drop heart breaker

by Kalon Fullerton

It was another narrow defeat for Gonzalo Carranza’s FC Wichita squad on Saturday, as they had their chances but just could not find the quality touch needed to defeat Kaw Valley, as the Boys in Red fell 3-1 at Stryker Stadium.

Luis Rodrigues netted the only goal for Wichita, cooly finishing a nice free kick from Guilherme Oliveira in the 54th minute. That halved a deficit after Kaw Valley opened the scoring in the 12th minute before extending the lead in the 48th minute.

FC Wichita had the better chances for most of the game, but were made to rue their missed opportunities as the Cranes would cement the three points with a breakaway goal in the 90th minute that removed all doubt.

FC Wichita falls to 1-5 on the season and they’ll look for that elusive second win next week, as they head to Chicago for three games, starting with a Thursday matchup with Chicago City. Then, playing Chicago Dutch Lions and Chicago FC United before returning home.
