Men's Expansion: The League
September 11, 2024 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The League for Clubs is proud to announce the addition of FC Wichita for our inaugural season in 2025.
FC Wichita has been a class organization on and off the field since its founding in 2015, growing the sport of soccer in the Wichita community at a rapid pace. FC Wichita’s men’s team has competed in the NPSL and USL2, appearing in 7 U.S. Open Cup matches along the way.
The FC Wichita women have played in the WPSL since 2017.
"We’re excited to join The League in its inaugural season. Our ideas mesh perfectly with its leadership and organizational structure. In addition, we feel it’s a big win with the conference alignment,” said Blake Shumaker, owner of FC Wichita. “This will provide an opportunity to rekindle some old rivalries with teams like Tulsa Athletic and FC Dallas, while continuing to grow new ones that originate from youth academy competitions against a club like Union Kansas City for example."
FC Wichita is based out of the state-of-the-art Stryker Soccer Complex, which underwent a $22 million renovation in 2018. They are slated to play in the Central Region, joining Tulsa Athletic, FC Dallas U23s, Houston Regals SCA and Union KC.
There will be more new club announcements in the near future. As soon as dates and times are confirmed for those announcements, they will be shared on social media, @TheLeague_FC.
